0:30 am joined today by committee
0:33 members a Nurse Gutiérrez
0:36 Hanks Banks Wong and also a
0:38 perino Sanchez thank you for
0:40 joining today the committee
0:42 will vote on proposed
0:43 introduction number 905 a
0:46 sponsored by myself council
0:48 member Oswald felice this bill
0:50 would require the nypd t
0:52 oreport quarterly on confirmed
0:54 shots fired incidents in our
0:56 City currently an nypd
0:57 provides data on it on the
0:58 issue of gun violence data
1:00 related to shooting victims
1:03 and shooting incidents but the
1:05 shooting incidents data does
1:06 not capture data related to
1:08 shooting incidents when no one
1:11 is struck the report would
1:12 require that the nypd produce
1:15 and provide information
1:16 regarding the total number of
1:19 shots fired incidents as well
1:20 as the berle the precinct the
1:23 approximate date time and
1:24 location of each incident this
1:27 legislation will provide the
1:28 council and the public with
1:30 greater information about gun
1:31 violence in the City of New
1:33 York by providing information
1:34 related to shots fired
1:36 incidents that are currently
1:38 not captured in existing
1:40 shooting incidents statistics
1:41 because no one is shot by
1:43 establishing a quarterly
1:45 reporting requirement this
1:45 bill would provide a clearer
1:48 picture of when and where
1:49 shots fired incident to occur
1:50 in our City I believe this
1:53 legislation will strengthen
1:54 transparency around gun
1:55 violence in our communities
1:56 and provide the council and
1:58 the public with additional
2:00 information to better
2:01 understand and address public
