Committee: Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, chaired by Council Member Shaun Abreu, met to vote on proposed Resolution 143-A, sponsored by Council Member Riley, calling on the New York State Legislature to pass and the Governor to sign legislation creating unlimited transfers within a two-hour period for subway and bus pay-per-ride users. The chair explained that under the current fare structure pay-per-ride riders receive only one free transfer within two hours, which burdens riders whose trips require multiple transfers, especially in transit deserts. The resolution was approved by the committee with seven votes in the affirmative, zero in the negative, and no abstentions.
