Committee: Committee on Economic Development
The Committee on Economic Development, chaired by Council Member Virginia Maloney, held a vote meeting on three bills related to the FIFA World Cup, all previously heard on April 28. Introduction 807-A (Majority Leader Shaun Abreu) requires temporary bathroom access at permitted events of over 500 people on City land during the World Cup. Introduction 808-A (also Abreu) requires the City to publish a public events calendar and a digital map of small businesses connected to the 48 participating nations. Introduction 849-A (Deputy Speaker Nantasha M. Williams) requires a cultural passport program with at least five participating sites in every borough. The chair reported that all three bills received support from agencies at the April hearing. The committee approved all items by a vote of seven in the affirmative, zero in the negative, with no abstentions.
