The Council's next two weeks: Planning Commission nominees after Question 3, a Board of Correction pick, and a homeownership hearing
The Rules Committee takes up five City Planning Commission nominees and Martha King for the jail oversight board on Monday. Here is every hearing on the published calendar from Nov. 9 to 20.
With the election over, the City Council returns to its regular calendar next week. The first big item is Monday's Rules Committee hearing on Mayor Zohran Mamdani's five picks for the City Planning Commission, which picked up new final say over some land decisions when voters approved Question 3 on Tuesday. The committee will also take up a new Council candidate for the Board of Correction, the city's jail oversight board.
Why it matters to residents: these hearings decide who sits on the boards that shape what gets built in your neighborhood and how the city's jails are watched. Hearings are open to the public and streamed, and most allow public testimony.
Here is what is on the Council's published calendar for Nov. 9 to 20, from our records. Times are Eastern.

- Five City Planning Commission nominees: Anthony Crowell (M 93), Kenneth Knuckles (M 94), Julie Stein (M 95), Margaret Anadu (M 96) and Meenakshi Srinivasan (M 97). The nominations were referred to the committee Oct. 22. Our Question 3 story explains why the commission's job just got bigger.
- Martha King, Board of Correction (T2026-2639). The item describes her as the Council's candidate for appointment to the board under Section 626 of the City Charter, which lets the Council name some of its members. Its listed sponsor is Council Member Sandra Ung. King led the board's staff as executive director, and is now a senior program officer at the Charles H. Revson Foundation, according to her Correctional Association of New York biography. The board's 2026 news page shows that member Dwayne C. Sampson, a former chair, resigned effective Oct. 30. The page does not say whether King would fill that seat.
